Trenton T56 Engine Test Cell
Trenton, ON
Canadian Forces Base 8Wing Trenton is the major support/transport air base for
the Canadian Air Force. The primary transport aircraft used by 8 Wing is the
C130 Hercules powered by T-56 turboprop engines.
CFB
8Wing built a T-56 engine test facility in order to increase servicing
capabilities and decrease engine turn-around times for both scheduled
maintenance and desnagging of the T-56 engine package. The facility includes
a Mobile Engine Test Stand for run-ups, control booth, fuel cell, maintenance
building, and all associated concrete pads, aprons and miscellaneous siteworks.
Construction
costs, not including equipment were $600,000.00.
