Salvation Army, Kitchener Corps.
Kitchener, ON
RRL was contracted
to design a new worship facility for the Salvation Army in
Kitchener.
The church includes an open concept
sanctuary that can seat 400 comfortably and has the flexibility
to expand its seating up to 600 seats through the use of
the Fellowship Hall and Lobby overflow areas. It also includes
a full gym and a complete kitchen area to allow a variety
of venues for serving coffee, luncheons, socials or banquets.
The building is designed with
apparent sloping planes to reflect the residential character
of the neighborhood in which it is located. A mixture of
stone work, brick masonry and acrylic stucco carve the
exterior vernacular of the building to reduce the massive
size of the structure and provide aesthetic detail to the
building envelope.
